Udupi Palace (Mission)

One of the questions we get from our customers is, "What, exactly, is Udupi cuisine?" Udupi cuisine is a traditional South Indian cuisine that adheres to Hindu customs and is totally vegetarian. It also emphasizes healthy whole grains and fiery flavors. You don't have to be vegetarian to love Udupi Palace. Chances are, you won't even notice the missing meat; our dishes are just that hearty and delicious. But if you are vegetarian, you have just found the perfect restaurant for you. Udupi Palace shows you how varied and creative your veggie meal can be.
A customer favorite--and one of our signature dishes--are dosas. Dosas are very thin, crepe-like pancakes usually made of rice and lentils, though some are made with wheat. They're crispy at the edges but oh-so-soft in the middle. Here at Udupi Palace, we have a variety of tempting dosas, including Masala Dosa, which is stuffed with potato, and Mysore Sada Dosa, which is spread with tangy chutney. Dosas can seem very large, though they are thin. How to eat them? Any way you want: fold them, tear them, roll them or just bite into them! Be sure to dip them into the coconut chutney and sambar that comes on the side. And it is always nice to share.
Another of our specialties are Uthappam, which are like Indian pizzas. Toppings include tomatoes, onions, cauliflower, pineapple and more. Fans of curry—who are legion, and very devoted—will enjoy choosing from the varieties we serve at Udupi Palace. Our Avial Curry has a mix of fresh vegetables and a milder, coconut curry, while our Special Veg is much spicier. Many customers like to order our Mini Thali, which gives you a selection of curries, soups, rice and a dessert. At Udupi Palace, you know your meal will be healthy, flavorful and even fun!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. The samosas are delicious, and the channa masala was flavorful and just spicy enough. I come here whenever I'm having a craving for dosas-- the chettinab dosa is my favorite! I will definitely be returning.
I'm a meat lover, so when my girlfriend suggested this restaurant, I was skeptical. But the food had so much flavor that I hardly missed the meat at all. My girlfriend was very pleased to find a vegetarian restaurant that is delicious and has lots of flavor. The vegetable biryani was excellent, and the prices weren't bad either. It's something that we both enjoyed.
Good service and large portion sizes. I ordered the Udupi combo, and I could have easily shared it with another person (except that it was so delicious that I wanted to eat it all myself!) The place gets busy on weekends, but isn't that the mark of a good restaurant?
